The government has finally put an end to speculation a number of North Island regions will lose their rescue helicopters.
A draft ACC strategy created uncertainty about the future of helicopters based in Palmerston North and the Central Plateau.
It prompted fears many local services would be scrapped and run from main centres like Wellington and Hamilton.
ACC Minister Ruth Dyson has now formally asked for the strategy to be scrapped, and for no changes to be made to the way national rescue helicopter services are run.
She says no local services are at risk. |
